Integral Therapy

Integral therapy is a blended therapeutic approach that draws from several methods and theories, including pharmacological, psychodynamic, behavioural, cognitive, humanistic, existential, multicultural, somatic, and transpersonal. Grounded in the work of theoretical psychologist and philosopher Ken Wilber, Integral Psychology positions itself as the most comprehensive approach to therapy yet offered and is founded on the idea that all insights on life contain partial truths and that weaving together a range of cultural, psychological, socioeconomic, biological, spiritual, and behavioural perspectives can often provide the best treatment. Integral therapy has much in common with holistic therapy and has a focus on increased mindfulness and sometimes incorporates the use of hypnosis.

It can be broadly applied to a number of problem areas, including trauma and relationship dynamics. Practitioners of integral psychology believe that life provides constant opportunities for evolution and growth, resulting in awareness and connection that can deepen an individual’s sense of meaning. Often, the goal is to help people learn from suffering rather than escape it. Integral Therapy strongly emphasises the therapist’s own personal development, under the premise that the depth and complexity of the human psyche must be understood first within the self if it is to be understood fully by others. This creates a solid foundation for me to help you understand why you do the things you do, identify how your behavioural patterns are limiting you and guide you to overcome them. The process is not without challenges, but the healing is always worth it.
